ITT 1966 - Institut Teknologi Tekstil
The peak of the development of textile education in Indonesia occurred at the end of 1965. This was marked by the establishment of the Institut Teknologi Tekstil (ITT). This institute is a combination of the Akademi Tekstil (Akateks), Perguruan Tinggi Ilmu Tekstil (PTIT) and Balai Penelitian Tekstil dan Pilot Pemintalan Kapas. Ir. Soetarjo was appointed as the dean of ITT with the main task of implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely aligning the process of providing education, research, and community service in the textile sector.
Based on the Decree of the Minister of Textile Industry and People’s Crafts Number: 011/M/Kpts/66 dated February 1, 1966, the name of ITT was confirmed and appointed Colonel (Ret.) A. Bakrin, who at that time served as Manager of Patal Cipadung, became the caretaker of ITT leadership.
After four months, ITT’s definitive leadership was confirmed. On June 22, 1966, Major General (Ret.) KPH H. Soerjosoejarso was appointed Rector of ITT in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Textile Industry and People’s Crafts. The leadership of Major General (Ret.) KPH H. Soerjosoejarso lasted for 20 years, both when he was still named ITT and after it was named the Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Tekstil (STT Textile). In carrying out his duties, the ITT Chancellor is assisted by the Assistant Rector I for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Rector II for Administration, and the Vice Chancellor III for Student Affairs. Until now, KPH H. Soerjosoejarso is the longest-serving leader in the history of this textile education institution.
