STTĀ Tekstil 1978 - Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Tekstil
The Minister of Industry issued Decree Number 175 of 1978 which stated that ITT was developed into two institutions, namely Balai Besar Penelitian dan Pengembangan Industri Tekstil (BBT) and Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Tekstil (STT Tekstil) which were administratively separate and independent.
After the tenure of Major General (Purn) KPH H. Soerjosoejarso ended, the leadership of STT Tekstil was continued by Soemarno, M.Sc for a term of 1986-1989. This master in textile science, a graduate of New South Wales University Australia, is an experienced man who has been in the management of textile education since PTIT was founded in 1964 as Education Administrator. He was also heavily involved in the management and development of textile higher education while serving at ITT.
At the end of 1989, Wagimun, S.Teks, a graduate of ITT, took his place and served as chairman of STT Tekstil for approximately nine years until 1998. His leadership was a pioneer for ITT alumni in leading their alma mater. However, the leadership position of STT Tekstil is a uncurrent position because the main position is Head of Balai Besar Penelitian dan Pengembangan Industri Tekstil. The establishment of the Manunggal Building became an important part of Wagimun’s leadership period.
The new era of STT Tekstil leadership began in 1998 with the appointment of Ir. Abdul Ghani (1998-2002) as Chair of the STT Tekstil based on the Decree of the Minister of Industry and Trade Number: 42/MPP/Kep/1/1998 dated January 26, 1998. Appointment of Ir. Abdul Ghani, an ITB alumnus, is also the answer to the openness of STT Tekstil for people outside the alumni to lead STT Tekstil. Since then, the leadership of STT Tekstil has an independent status and is no longer a dual position as before.
